A 58-year-old Pulrose man has been banned by magistrates from keeping a dog for two years after failing to comply with an ofer to keep his German shepherd, Toby, under control.

Barry Corkill, of Laburnum Avenue, admitted allowing his dog to cause a nuisance in March and was made subject to an order to keep him under control. However, on April 5 at 3.40pm, police went to Cedar Grove in Pulrose after a report of a dog out of control.

Prosecutor Richard Butters said police found Toby jumping up at a man who was walking a Yorkshire terrier.

Toby was said to be boisterous, nipping and pawing at the man and his terrier, but no injuries were caused. Corkill was found asleep on the bench.

Corkill said the dog had since been rehomed by the ManxSPCA and he had no intention of having another dog.

He was also fined £100 and ordered to pay£50 costs.
