A 48-year-old has been fined £375 after a row with his brother.
Mark Anthony Pinnington went to his sibling’s home and demanded he go outside for a fight.
He admitted a section two public order offence and was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
Prosecuting advocate Rachael Braidwood told the court how Pinnington went to his brother’s house at Cronk y Berry Drive in Douglas on July 22 at 8pm.
He was said to be acting aggressively, banging on the front door.
A woman answered the door and Pinnington was said to have been swearing and shouting: ’Get him out here now. I’m going to murder him.’
He was then said to have abused the woman with her calling the police after closing the door.
Pinnington, who lives in Governor’s Hill, Douglas, was said to have continued his rant, shouting and revving his car engine as he left.
He was arrested later and admitting being at the house. He admitted calling his brother outside for a fight but denied making a comment about murdering him, saying that he did not have any plan.
wrongdoings
Defence advocate Stephen Wood entered a basis of plea on behalf of his client in which Pinnington claimed he had reported his brother for various wrongdoings over the years but police had not taken any action. He said that, on the day of the incident, his brother had made threats and asked him to go to his house for a fight. In the plea, Pinnington said that he was ashamed that he had gone round but added that there was provocation.
Mr Wood said: ’There has been earlier provocation. My client shouldn’t have allowed himself to become emotional and gone round to confront his brother.
’There was no actual violence but it’s accepted he was extremely angry at the time. It’s clear that the issues that exist within the family need to be resolved.’
Magistrates chair Geoff Collier told Pinnington: ’If you and your family can’t sort matters out you need to stay apart.’
Pinnington will pay the fine and costs at a rate of £50 per week.
