An Onchan man has been fined £500 after a family row escalated.
Carl James Druggan, of Royal West Avenue, pleaded guilty to provoking behaviour and was also ordered by magistrates to pay £50 costs.
Prosecuting advocate James Robinson told the court that Druggan went to his mother’s home at Derby Road in Douglas on July 7 at 3am.
He was said to have got into a row there and been abusive to his mother which had resulted in him being involved in an altercation with his stepfather who had tried to remove him from the premises.
Druggan entered a basis of plea saying his stepfather had requested him to leave and accepting he had refused and been abusive to his mother.
Advocate Ian Kermode said: ’This was an unfortunate incident within a domestic context. He attended his mother’s address. He would say he was not very drunk. He would use the phrase "merry".
’He accepts he refused to leave. It’s fair to say there were a range of ongoing family issues. He wishes to apologise to all concerned.’
Druggan will pay the fine and costs at a rate of £100 per month.
