A Douglas man has been fined £350 for being drunk and disorderly after being involved in a late-night scuffle.
Luke Callow, aged 30, of Keppel Road, admitted the offence.
Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain told the court that Callow had initially been involved in a disturbance outside the Courthouse bar on Athol Street on November 10 at 2.50am.
He was warned by police about his behaviour but no further action was taken.
However, the same officers then came across him again on Ridgeway Street, 10 minutes later, involved in a scuffle in the middle of the road with another man.
He was arrested and told police: ’I just don’t know how I’m being done. I was the one who was assaulted.’
Defence advocate Peter Taylor said that Callow had out been celebrating a friend’s wedding.
Mr Taylor said Callow had gone outside the Courthouse to smoke but had lost his cigarettes and got into a disagreement.
The advocate said that Callow had then asked someone for a cigarette in Ridgeway Street but had become involved in an altercation.
’He had a night in the cells to think about things,’ said Mr Taylor.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered that he pay the fine and costs at a rate of £100 per month plus costs of £125.
