A Douglas man has been fined £300 for possessing amphetamine and cannabis.
Gregor Turley, of Drury Terrace, admitted having the two class ’B’ drugs at his home when police executed a search warrant there on October 25.
The 44-year-old appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes on Tuesday.
Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that police executed the warrant at 5.10pm initially in relation to another person who was at the property.
However, a white paste was found in the fridge, later identified as 1.8 grams of amphetamine worth £27 and a trace of cannabis valued at £1 was found in the living room.
When interviewed, Turley handed in a prepared statement to police officers admitting that the drugs were his for personal use.
Defence advocate Paul Glover said that his client had no previous drug-related convictions.
Mr Glover asked for credit to be given for his client’s guilty plea.
In relation to the amphetamine, he said: ’He informs me it was an amount he forgot he had possession of.’
In addition to the fine, he was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
Turley will pay the fine and costs at a rate of £10 per week deducted from benefits.
