A 25-year-old man has been fined £250 after pouring Ribena over his ex-partner’s head in Tesco.

Scott Bainbridge, of Church Road Marina, Douglas, admitted an offence of common assault and was also ordered to pay the woman £50 compensation.

He was also said to have thrown the bottle at her after the incident.

Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told a court last week that Bainbridge had rowed with his former partner on the phone on December 4 at 11.30am regarding child contact issues.

He then saw her in the Douglas supermarket and started to follow her around the store, continuing the argument.

Frustration

Bainbridge was then said to have poured the contents of a Ribena bottle over her head, thrown the bottle at her and then walked off.

He was later arrested and admitted it to police.

Defence advocate Ian Kermode said that Bainbridge was due to move to Huddersfield shortly, which was where he was originally from.

Mr Kermode said that the couple had been in a relationship for four years.

’He felt a deep sense of frustration being denied contact with the children,’ said the advocate.

’He accepts he lost his temper and poured a small bottle of Ribena over her head.

’No injury was sustained.’
