A 23-year-old Crosby man has been fined £350 for threatening behaviour.
Jason Craig Quayle, of Reayrt ny Chrink, admitted the offence and was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
A second charge of resisting arrest was withdrawn.
Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that police were called to Windsor Terrace in Douglas on June 26 at 9.40pm after a report of a fight.
When police arrived they found Quayle walking on Osborne Terrace, with blood on his lips and shouting at a group of men.
Quayle told police he had been assaulted but would not give any details.
He was said to have continued to swear repeatedly, despite warnings from police, and was unsteady on his feet.
He was also said to have given a false name to police and made attempts to get at the group of men.
Quayle then raised his middle finger in the face of one officer and was subsequently arrested.
Once in a police van he started banging his head on the cage door and threatening to headbutt police.
Defence advocate Ian Kermode said that his client was currently subject to an early release licence which expires on July 25, after being released from prison early in March.
The advocate said: ’Mr Quayle was upset and reacted inappropriately to police. He would say he was the victim of an assault but he didn’t wish to make a complaint.
’When pressed by police for more details he accepts he was swearing and was aggressive.
’He was intoxicated at the time and now takes a different view.
’He has reviewed footage and reflected on it when sober and wishes to apologise to police.’
Mr Kermode asked for credit to be given for his client’s guilty plea and said that he had kept all his appointments with his probation officer.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered Quayle to pay the fine and costs at a rate of £50 per week.
