A man was restrained in the street using Pava spray on Mad Sunday.
Lee Rennie Hetherington, of Church Street, Peel, was this week fined £275 after admitting being drunk and disorderly.
Prosecutor Michael Jelski told magistrates how, on June 3 at 1.10am, police saw Hetherington, aged 38, walking along Michael Street in Peel.
He was said to be unsteady on his feet and staggering.
As police passed he was said to have made a hand gesture and officers stopped to speak to him.
They asked if the gesture was towards them and he said: ’Mind your own business.’
When asked for his name and details he swore at police and said he was going home.
When told he was being arrested, Hetherington again swore at police.
As he was being arrested he was said to have tensed up and kicked out with Pava spray eventually being used to subdue him.
Defence advocate Paul Glover said that his client’s stance was that his initial gesture had not been aimed at the police.
’He was out enjoying the TT period and the situation got out of hand,’ said Mr Glover.
The defendant was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
