Detectives are investigating a serious incident that occurred during the early hours of Sunday.

At around 2am an altercation took place outside in Tynwald Road, Willaston, involving a large group of men and women.

During it a 25-year-old Douglas man sustained serious injuries which resulted in him being hospitalised.

He has subsequently been released from hospital after treatment and is making a good recovery.

Five men have already been arrested and detained at police headquarters in connection with this inquiry and have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Investigations are continuing and a number of people have already been spoken to by officers, however, detectives are urging members of the public who they haven’t already spoken to, who either saw this incident in Tynwald Road occurring, or who may have any information which may assist with their inquiries, to contact them on 631301 or via the main police number on 631212.
