A man found with £35-worth of cannabis told officers it helped with his ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

Ryan Benjamin James McCurrie, aged 21, of Duke Street, Peel, admitted possessing the drug and will be sentenced on September 27 after a probation report has been completed.

Prosecutor Rachael Braidwood told the court how, on May 24 at 2.05am, police attended an address at Merton Bank in Douglas after a report of a disturbance.

McCurrie had injured his arm and was taken to hospital with his ex-partner.

A search of McCurrie’s address found 6.8 grams of the drug worth £35.95.

In a police interview he handed in a prepared statement saying that he took the drug for ADHD.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes heard that McCurrie was still subject to a 240-hour community service order, imposed in June 2017, of which 55 hours remained uncompleted.

Bail continues.
