A Ramsey man this week admitted assaulting a police officer, provoking behaviour, and damaging property.
John Anthony Green, of Stanley Mount, will be sentenced on March 26 after a probation report has been prepared.
Green, who is 44, was said to have punched a woman in the face and had to be restrained by police using Pava spray during the incident on February 7.
He also damaged a gate by slamming it at Bircham Avenue Close in Ramsey.
The assault on the police officer took place at the Co-op car park in Christian Street on the same day.
Green entered a basis of plea saying that he had punched the woman in response to being punched by her on the back of the head.
He also said that he had not intended to damage the gate but admitted he had acted recklessly.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered that the probation report consider all options, including custody.
Bail was granted with conditions not to contact the complainant and not enter Bircham Avenue Close.
