A warehouse assistant has been sentenced to community service after challenging a man to a fight and punching and kicking his car.

Jordan Brown, of Springfield Avenue, Douglas, admitted damaging property and behaviour likely to cause belief unlawful violence may be used. He must do 100 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.

Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the court that, on February 16, Brown was walking on Queen Street in Douglas when he saw his victim get into a car.

There had been a history of trouble between them and Brown approached the vehicle shouting: ’Get out of the car and fight me one on one.’

The man began to drive away but Brown then punched and kicked the car causing £794-worth of damage.

The man reported the incident and Brown was later arrested.

In interview he refused to explain why his hand was injured.

A probation report said that alcohol had also played a part in the offence.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered him to pay compensation of £794 and £125 prosecution costs.
