A row with bouncers at a Douglas nightclub has proved costly for one man.

David Glyn Walker, of Fairvane, in Anagh Coar has been fined £500 by Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes after admitting being drunk and disorderly.

Prosecutor Richard Butters told the court how, on April 1 at 12.45am, 50-year-old Walker was in the Bordello club on Loch Promenade.

He was said to be slumped in the downstairs bar and clearly drunk. He was ejected by security staff and asked to leave the area.

Walker was said to have been aggressive, swearing and asked for his coat. Staff could not find it and Walker was said to have continued swearing.

He was pushed away but continued swearing and was subsequently restrained on the ground until police arrived and he was arrested.

Walker was co-operative in police interview and said he could not remember what happened but did recall being on the ground and doorstaff twisting his arm.

Walker represeted himself in court and admitted he had been drunk but said he had only wanted to get his jacket.

He said he was with his two daughters and claimed bouncers had been ’heavy-handed’.

He said he needed to get his jacket as his keys, phone and wallet were in it.

Walker said of the security staff: ’They nearly broke my arm. I have had to sign off work. There was no need for the amount of violence.’
