A man headbutted a policeman on Christmas Eve and made vile sexual comments to a policewoman.
Glenn James Anderson, of Brookhill Road, Ramsey, told the woman he knew where she lived, asked her to perform a sex act on him, and said: ’Wait till I get out.’
The 46-year-old has pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer, threatening behaviour, and possession of cannabis. He will be sentenced on August 20 after a probation report has been completed.
Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told magistrates during their sitting on Thursday that police were called to St Paul’s Apartments in St Paul’s Square in Ramsey on December 24.
A report had been received of a drunk man acting aggressively and breaking a fire door at the property.
Anderson, who is said to be nicknamed ’Magic’, was arrested and told police: ’I’ve got a joint in my pocket.’
He was put in a police van but as it was travelling over the mountain he became aggressive and started to swear and asked a woman officer if she wanted to perform a sex act on him.
Anderson told her that he knew where she lived and said: ’Wait till I get out.’
Once at police headquarters his anger continued as he headbutted a male officer striking him on the jaw.
The cannabis joint found was valued at £1.
A short probation report said that Anderson was a carer for his ill wife but had separated from her for a two-week period during which he said ’his world had fallen apart’.
He said he had gone off the rails and started drinking and using cannabis.
However, Anderson told probation that he had stopped drinking since the incident.
The report said that he suffering from long standing mental health issues and was the victim of an alleged serious assault in January which had shattered his eye socket and shoulder blade.
Defence advocate David Clegg said that his client had become a ’different man’ following his injuries and had changed his view of the police.
Mr Clegg said that the headbutt occurred during the course of a struggle rather than Anderson squaring up to the officer and butting him.
Magistrates ruled that a full probation report was necessary before sentencing as custody could not be ruled out.
Bail continues in the sum of £500 with conditions that Anderson does not approach witnesses, resides at his home address, and contacts probation.
