A man who punched a glass collector at The Outback nightclub has now been punished in court.
Raymond Matthew James Lovell, aged 22, of Elm Avenue, Pulrose, admitted being drunk and disorderly as well as disorderly behaviour on licensed premises.
He was fined a total of £775 and banned from entering licensed premises for three months.
We previously reported a previous hearing in the case when the court learned how, on June 10 at 1.20am, police on patrol came across an incident outside the Outback bar in Barrack Street.
Lovell was spoken to by police and said to be drunk.
Police were restraining a woman on Nelson Street, which members of the public were filming. That angered Lovell who pushed one of them in the chest.
Lovell also admitted having a verbal altercation with a glass collector which had resulted in them wrestling on the floor.
He admitted he had punched the man while they were on the ground.
A probation report said that Lovell had told them he had been at a relative’s 40th birthday party.
He said that he rarely drank as he was aware of how it affected him negatively.
Lovell told probation the glass collector had bumped into him and there had been an argument.
Defence advocate Peter Taylor said his client had previously spent a considerable time in prison which had been a ’wake-up call’.
’He vowed he was going to turn his life around and has done,’ said the advocate. ’He was out with his family and got carried away. He perhaps went past the point where he should have gone home.
’He has not been in a pub since.’
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes fined Lovell £600 for disorderly behaviour on licensed premises and £175 for being drunk and disorderly.
He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation to the glass collector and must pay £125 prosecution costs.
