A Douglas man has been jailed for 18 weeks after admitting resisting arrest, provoking behaviour and possessing cannabis.
Jake Flood, aged 24, of Clifton Terrace, was also banned from licensed premises for six months.
The court heard how police had been called to Peel Road in Douglas on Christmas Eve after allegations of a man assaulting a woman.
When officers arrived the couple had left but Flood was later arrested at his home address.
He was also found in possession of 0.4 grams of cannabis, said to be worth £8.
Defending Flood in court his advocate Paul Glover said: ’Mr Flood did inform police he didn’t remember much due to his intoxication.
’He is incredibly sorry and wants to apologise to all involved, especially his partner who is standing by him. There is no suggestion of any violence used towards his partner.
’Regarding the cannabis it was a very small amount for personal use. Regarding the resisting arrest charge, he was heavily intoxicated that evening but accepts that is no excuse. He was in a highly emotional state after an ongoing argument with his partner. The police turned up and emotions got the better of him.’
Flood was jailed for 16 weeks in September after spitting in the face of a court custody officer.
For his latest offences Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes sentenced him to eight weeks custody for provoking behaviour, 10 weeks for resisting arrest, to run consecutively, and four weeks for possession of cannabis, to run concurrently.
