A mother and child were lucky not to be hurt in a hit and run collision.

The incident happened as the woman was taking her young child out of the back of their car which was parked on Somerset Road in Douglas with the driver’s side facing the kerb.

A vehicle - possibly a silver Citroen - collided with the open rear passenger door. The wing mirror of the Citroen came off and car did not stop at the scene.

The incident took place at about 8.40am on Monday (December 11).

Police would like to speak to witnesses and anyone who can identify the offending vehicle. ’This was potentially dangerous but luckily no one sustained injuries,’ said a police spokesman.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police headquarters on 631212 and ask to speak to Constable Lewis Cassidy. Alternatively you can email PC Cassidy on [email protected]
