A 21-year-old woman has admitted driving without due care and attention.

Sophia Miriam Daisy Russell, of Lakeside Road, Douglas, did not appear in court but sent a postal admission to the offence.

The court heard how Russell was driving a Volkswagen Polo along Victoria Road in Douglas on May 17 at 7.45pm.

A witness saw her fail to give way or stop as she passed a number of parked cars and then heard a bang.

Russell’s car had hit one of the parked cars causing part of her Polo’s wing mirror to break off and bounce onto the road.

She failed to stop but the witness called the police and reported the incident.

Russell was interviewed and admitted she was at fault but said she did not think she had to report the incident as she thought only her vehicle had been damaged.

Russell did not send her driving licence with her postal admission, which she must do before sentencing can take place and the case was adjourned until November 9 for her to produce her licence.
