A Douglas roofer has been fined £150 for having a defective tyre after an accident in Ballasalla.
Andrew Mark Dillon, aged 58, of Woodbourne Road, admitted the offence and had his licence endorsed with three points.
Police were called to Bridge Road on January 29 at 10.30am.
The front offside tyre of Dillon’s Ford Mondeo was found to be devoid of tread and the inner shoulder was worn down.
He was given a fixed penalty notice to pay £120 but failed to pay it within 21 days.
Advocate David Reynolds said: ’He was taking the vehicle to get a new tyre. The accident occurred when somebody went into the back of him.
’Mr Dillon says he was told he was going to receive a notification.
’He said he would have paid the fine but he was waiting for notification if it was to go forward.’
