Six crew members of the Hogg Motorsport Association (HMA) have passed their rescue re-assessment for racing events in the island.

The unpaid volunteers of HMA, which is affiliated to the Rob Vine Fund, took part in a training day on Sunday where six members successfully passed their re-assessment and the rest were able to take part in valuable rescue training.

HMA members are required to go through a vigorous retesting of their skills every three years through the Motor Sports Association (MSA), including those required to be a Motorsport Medical Technician.

Training was overseen by Stuart Westbrook, a qualified MSA instructor and assessor from the UK, and by a local senior paramedic.

The MSA is the UK regulatory body for all four-wheeled motor sport events.

Its licensed rescue ambulances have to be present to deal with any incidents during car rallies taking place in the Isle of Man.

These vehicles carry crew capable of extricating casualties, fire fighting and providing pre-hospital immediate care for those injured.
