An offender has been handed a 12-month conditional discharge after offering to supply class C drugs.
Katie Francis O’Brien, of Demesne Road, Douglas, admitted possession of class C drug diazepam with intent to supply and offering to supply diazepam.
She also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and class C drug mirtazapene.
Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court that police were called to a flat in Peel Road, Douglas, on September 8 at 12.40am after a report of a disturbance.
O’Brien was there and found to have prescription medication which was not hers. She told police she used diazepam to self-medicate for anxiety and depression because her doctor would not give it to her.
In all, 61 diazepam tablets, valued at between £30 and £61 were found, as well as four mirtazapene tablets of an unknown value, and 0.2 grams of cannabis, worth £4.
Messages were found on O’Brien’s phone saying: ’How many you got?’, ’A pound each’ and ’I’m trying to make money’.
O’Brien admitted trying to sell diazepam to a friend but said she did not sell drugs.
A probation report said that she had bought the drugs for her own use and that she had not gone through with selling the drugs.
The court heard that her last conviction was in 2011.
Deputy High Bailiff Chris Arrowsmith said he had taken into account that the circumstances were unusual in that the amount of drugs was very small. He ordered O’Brien to pay £125 costs.
