A 30-year-old man from Douglas has admitted punching a man then urinating on him as he lay on the ground.
Konrad Jakub Krajewski, of Marina Road, pleaded guilty to two counts of common assaults committed outside Jaks bar in Granville Street.
He will be sentenced on June 20 after a probation report has been completed.
Two previous charges of asssault causing grievous bodily harm and threatening behaviour were withdrawn and replaced with the common assault charges.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the court that Krajewski was in Jaks with his girlfriend and another on May 6 at 10pm. The victim was also in Jaks with two friends.
The six sat together as Krajewski was said to have known the victim for about 12 years.
They had worked together but had not arranged to meet up on the night in question.
At between midnight and 1am the victim and Krajewski were seen across the road from Jaks where there is no CCTV. They were then seen in Granville Street on CCTV with the victim holding his hands up before being punched in the face by Krajewski, which caused the man’s glasses to fall off.
He put his glasses back on and then tried to punch Krajewski but missed.
Krajewski then punched the man twice which caused him to fall down.
The fall was later found to have caused the man to break his ankle but prosecutor Mr Kane said that it could be argued that Krajewski had acted in self-defence when the punches that caused the fall were thrown.
However, as the man lay on the ground he got his phone out and Krajewski was then seen urinating on him.
Police arrived and found the victim lying in a puddle of liquid and unable to get up.
Krajewski was later arrested and when interviewed claimed he had acted in self-defence.
When questioned over urinating on the man he remained silent.
Defence advocate Paul Glover asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing.
Magistrates ordered that the report consider all options, including custody.
Bail was granted in the sum of £500.
Krajewski must not enter licensed premises, buy or be sold alcohol, contact probation, not contact the complainant, and not leave the island without permission.
