A 32-year-old Douglas man has admitted receiving £280-worth of cannabis in the post.

Damien Aaron Nuttall, of Palace Road, will be sentenced on September 17 after a probation report has been completed.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court how a package was intercepted at the Post Office sorting office on April 30 and found to contain 14 grams of cannabis.

It was addressed to Nuttall at his home and when police went there he opened the door and said: ’I saw you outside and I knew you were coming for me. I didn’t want you to smash the door in.’

He was interviewed at police headquarters but remained silent throughout.

Ms Carroon said that the case was suitable for sentencing in summary court.

Defence advocate Louise Cooil asked for a probation report to be completed before sentencing.

The court heard that Nuttall has no previous drug-related convictions.

Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with a condition that he attend probation meetings.
