A 28-year-old man from Anagh Coar has been put on probation for 12 months.

Nathan Alexander Orme, of Anagh Coar Close, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly after an incident outside the Kensington Road community health centre.

The offence took place on April 9 and was said to involve Orme becoming a ’handful’ after police had offered to drive him home in their van.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also banned Orme from entering licensed premises and buying or being sold alcohol for four months.

Defence advocate Stephen Wood asked the court to follow the recommendation of a probation report which suggested the probation order as a suitable sentence.

The advocate said: ’Clearly Mr Orme has been struggling and needs the assistance of others.

’I’m proud of him, he’s clear-headed and is clearly sober.

’He’s doing everything he can to get his life back on track.’

High Bailiff Mrs Hughes told Orme: ’This was a serious offence. It began on the premises belonging to Manx Care though the actual offence occurred outside.’

Orme was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs, which he will pay at a rate of £10 per week.
