A 20-year-old man has admitted kicking a man in the face during an assault at a bus stop in Peel.

Callum Ryan Ivan Bratty pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing.

Prosecuting advocate Rachael Braidwood told the court that Bratty and another man were involved in the incident on June 6 at the bus stop outside Peel Town Hall.

Bratty was said to have punched the man during the assault then kicked him in the face which was said to have rendered him unconscious.

However, defence advocate Paul Glover entered a basis of plea for his client in which Bratty disputes some of the prosecution facts.

He denies that homophobic comments were made to two men at the bus stop and disputes whether the man was unconscious.

He accepted that he had kicked his victim in the face.

Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks said that he was declining summary court jurisdiction, based on the fact that a kick to the face had been admitted.

Mr Brooks said that he would leave it to the deemster dealing with the case at the higher court to decide whether a Newton Hearing, to settle the disputed facts, was necessary.

Bratty will appear at the higher court on October 8.

Bail continues in the sum of £500 with a condition not to contact the complainants.
