A 42-year-old man has been fined £150 after breaching a community service order.
Gregor Turley was given to 60 hours’ community service in May for driving offences.
The court heard that Turley had so far completed only seven hours of the order and had failed to turn up to a string of probation appointments.
Defending Turley, of Princes Street, Douglas, advocate Louise Cooil said: ’When the order was made Mr Turley had been going through a turbulent time in respect of addictions and had been also diagnosed with anxiety and depression.’
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes allowed the order to continue and said: ’Since May 18 you have completed just seven hours. That is a woeful attempt at complying with the order. If there are any further breaches you can expect to go straight to custody.’
Turley told Mrs Hughes: ’I’m in a better place now.’ to which she answered: ’I’m glad, but the place you have to be is doing community service.’
