A Peel man has been convicted of disorderly behaviour following a row on a family night out.
Ashley Alexander Convery, of School Close, admitted the offence and will be sentenced on February 19 after a probation report has been prepared.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court how Convery was out with his family and girlfriend at a live music event at Peel Golf Club on December 29.
He argued with his girlfriend and followed her to the toilet. As he waited outside the toilet he was asked by a doorman to move away but swore, telling them where to go.
Convery, aged 24, continued swearing and as the doorman attempted to move him away from the toilets, Convery grabbed him around the throat.
A second doorman intervened and Convery was then said to have thrown punches at him with one striking him on the head.
When interviewed by police, Convery said he had drunk 12 bottles and emotions had got the better of him after the row with his girlfriend.
The court heard that he has no previous convictions and no complaint had been made by the door staff.
Defence advocate Paul Glover asked for the offence to be dealt with via a financial penalty.
But Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said that she wanted a probation report considering that Convery had grabbed one door man by the throat and had thrown punches at a second. Mrs Hughes ruled the report consider all options, including custody.
Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions that Convery reside at his home address, contact probation, and not leave the island without court permission.
