A 27-year-old Douglas man has admitted possessing cocaine.

Liam Bradley, of Castlemona Avenue, was arrested with £50-worth of the class ’A’ drug and will be sentenced on January 26 after a probation report has been prepared.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that police were performing vehicle checks at the Hairpin on the Mountain Road on December 14 when they stopped Bradley.

He was driving a Volkswagen Golf and a search of the car found a wrap containing 0.5 grams of cocaine.

He was arrested and when interviewed told police that he used the drug every weekend.

Bradley said he used between one and three grams a week and the wrap must have fallen out of his pocket in the car, but would not say where he got the drug from.

Defence advocate Ian Kermode said that the drug was a very small amount for personal use and asked for credit to be given for his client’s frankness during the police interview.

Mr Kermode said that Bradley intended to refer himself to Motiv8.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes granted bail in the sum of £500 with conditions to live at his home address and not leave the island without court consent.
