Police are seeking information regarding two incidents involving cars which occurred on the Mountain Road in the last week.
On Sunday, May 2 at 7.40pm a black Audi collided with a fence in the area of the Verandah on the A18 road.
Officers said the driver decided not to let anyone know and continue on to Douglas, where upon seeing a marked police vehicle drove at high speed overtaking a lorry after Brandish.
The driver then drove along Ballacottier Road towards Clypse Reservoir and hid the car at an abandoned set of farm buildings beyond a padlocked gate.
Police detailed how the occupants of the vehicle removed the number plates of the vehicle, then left it next to other, older vehicles in an attempt to disguise it.
In a Facebook post, the police said: ’Unfortunately police found the vehicle and looke at the current tax disc left behind displaying said registration number and ensured it was the right car by checking the chassis number.
’Is this your car? Has it been stolen?’
Officers said if you are the owner and have just noticed your car not where you left it, you should get in touch so that police can begin an investigation into potential theft.
Any witnesses to the car which was driving between the Verandah and Ballacottier Road is urged to make contact on 631212, quoting reference 97/20497/21.
