The police have issued a warning over the behaviour of youngsters at McDonald’s on Peel Road in Douglas.

A post on the Police Early Action Team’s Facebook page said that officers have been called to the restaurant several times in recent weeks for disorderly behaviour by youths.

The behaviour consists of using foul and inappropriate language, running around the premises, running over the tables in the premises and throwing rubbish around the premises.

A Police statement said: ’If your child is a visitor to McDonald’s then please have a word that there is an expectation that they behave in a respectful and appropriate manner.

’Should the Police be called and offences are being committed officers will not just be telling your child off and sending them on their way. Your child may be arrested and you, their parent, will be called to come and act as appropriate for them at the Police Station or take responsibility for them from McDonald’s itself.

’Depending on the circumstances there may also be a referral to Social Services.

’Please also don’t assume your child will not be involved in what is going on at McDonald’s.

’The Police recently attended to two young people being offensive. When spoken to by the Police they carried on with their offensive behaviour until it was pointed out that they were being recorded on the officer’s body cam at which point they turned into angels.’
