Peel Coastguard were called to aid with a pollution incident in the harbour last night.
On investigation the spill reached from the swing bridge right down the harbour, past the Museum to the boat park. Volunteers observed a large amount of an orange pollution and oil sheen.
A spokesman said: ’A boom was placed around a vessel which was suspected to have caused the pollution and further absorbent booms were placed at locations along the quay. It appeared the spill was an oil based liquid, and a sample was taken to be analysed.’
A sample of the contaminate was taken away for testing.
