A pregnant woman has been convicted of assaulting a police officer and provoking behaviour.
Stacey Ann Robina Ashton, of Hillside Avenue, Douglas, pushed and kicked a police officer after being arrested.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the court that police were at an address in Woodbourne Square on January 16 dealing with an unrelated matter.
Ashton, who is 38, was seen stumbling and clearly intoxicated, swearing and shouting: ’I will do you,’ at a man who was at the door of one of the flats.
She was arrested and had to be carried downstairs due to her angry state.
Once at police headquarters her anger continued as she faced up to one police officer and pushed them. She then kicked out, striking the officer on the leg as her aggression and abuse continued.
She was later released on medical grounds.
Mr Kane asked for the court to consider an alcohol ban as he said that Ashton had previous convictions for alcohol-related offences.
Defence advocate Paul Glover asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing.
Mr Glover said that his client was due to give birth on July 13 so any court date may need to be changed.
As the case was adjourned for sentencing to take place on June 20 Ashton swore in the dock saying: ’Yeah whatever.’
Bail was granted with a condition to contact probation.
