A 40-year-old Douglas woman has been fined £400 for possessing cannabis.
Kelly Elaine Thompson, of Church Road Marina, only had £10-worth of the drug and prosecutor Rachael Braidwood said that the offence may have been dealt with differently if it had not been for Thompson’s previous record.
The court heard that Thompson had previous convictions relating to cannabis and was jailed in 2015 for offences relating to class A drugs and the proceeds of crime.
Mrs Braidwood told the court how police found the cannabis in Thompson’s car when she was stopped on November 14.
Defence advocate Kate Alexander said that her client’s last cannabis-related offence had been in 2008.
’She has been trying to keep her head down,’ said Ms Alexander.
Thompson was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.
