Fire crews freed a single occupant from a car that had crashed at Creg Ny Baa back road yesterday (Wednesday).

The Douglas and Laxey Fire Stations responded to reports of a person trapped in a car due to a crash that took place at 10.24pm near Glen Roy.

Brian Quirk, Station Officer, said: ’On arrival officers discovered a single vehicle on its side with the single occupant trapped due to its position.

’Crews stabilised the vehicle and used specialist equipment to gain access and allow colleagues from the Isle of Man Ambulance Service to assess the occupant before assisting them from the vehicle for further precautionary checks.

’Crews returned to station at 11.45pm.’

Equipment used during the rescue included a major pump from Laxey Station, an enhanced rescue vehicle and a major pump from Douglas Station.
