Douglas lifeboat was launched today (Saturday) to help a fishing boat that had reported engine failure.

The boat had been about three miles off Douglas when the engine failed at 2.35pm.

The crew, under the command of volunteer coxswain Graeme Cushnie, towed the boat back to Douglas and berthed at Battery Pier, where Douglas Coastguard were waiting to help.

The lifeboat then returned to station where it was re-housed and made ready again for service by 4.15pm.
