A 51-year-old Ramsey woman has admitted shoplifting from a chemist’s shop.
Christina Ann Metaxas, of Waverley Terrace, stole hand cream, facial scrub, nail hardener, scented oil, and a hair clip.
She will be sentenced on August 5 after a probation report has been completed.
Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court that staff at Boots in Strand Street, Douglas, saw Metaxas in the store on April 12.
She was carrying a shopping basket as well as her own carrier bags.
Staff recognised her as she had been banned from the shop previously.
She was seen picking up nail hardener but as staff followed her to another aisle she no longer had the item in her hand.
Staff also reported that they could see a facial wash product in her bag.
Metaxas then went to the checkout and paid for three other items.
CCTV footage viewed later showed her putting various other items into her own bag.
A stock check revealed items valued at £25.99 had been taken.
Police called at Metaxas’ home on April 14 and she admitted stealing the goods.
When asked why she had taken them she replied: ’Cos I need them.’
Defence advocate James Peterson asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing as his client has numerous previous convictions.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said that she was not considering custody so a short probation report would be sufficient.
Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions not to enter Boots and to live at her home address.
