A man who spat in a pregnant woman’s face has been jailed for 14 weeks.

Dillon Frazer Cowie also threw a drink and a can of deodorant at her car outside the Barbary Coast bar.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to common assault on a female.

As we have previously reported, the woman drove to the Barbary Coast on the North Quay in Douglas at 7.20pm on September 22.

She was there to collect friends but Cowie was said to have approached her car shouting and banged on the roof and window.

She said he then spat through the window with it landing on the left of her face and threw a drink and a can of deodorant towards the car.

Cowie, who lives in Marathon Drive, Douglas, entered a basis of plea in which he admitted spitting and said that he had thrown the deodorant can recklessly as well as the contents of a glass in the direction of the car.

The court heard that Cowie has spent 18 days on remand and one day in police custody.

While passing sentence, Deputy High Bailiff Chris Arrowsmith told Cowie that, at 21, he already had a ’significant record of offending’.

No order for prosecution costs or compensation was made.
