A teenager has admitted possessing ecstasy, cocaine and class C drug ketamine.

Jake Mortimer, of Churchtown, in Lezayre, will be sentenced on January 7 after a probation report has been completed.

The 19-year-old was previously charged with possession of the three drugs with intent to supply, which he had denied, but on Tuesday the charges were amended to possession only when he appeared before the High Bailiff.

Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that Mortimer was arrested on May 25 at 4.40am in relation to another unrelated matter.

He was taken to police headquarters where a red pill was found in his wallet.

A further search found that Mortimer was wearing two pairs of underwear and that he had concealed snap bags in them.

A police search of his home address also found further drugs.

When interviewed Mortimer denied selling any drugs and then gave ’no comment’ responses to all other questions.

In total police found crystal MDMA weighing 1.7 grams worth £68, four MDMA pills worth £60, 9.3 grams of cocaine worth £930, and 2.6 grams of ketamine worth £130.

However, it was said that the cocaine only had a purity of less than 1% and the ketamine also had a very low purity.

Defence advocate Ian Kermode said that his client was currently subject to a 12 month probation order which was imposed in April after he stole a £625 coat from Flannels in the Strand Shopping Centre.

Mr Kermode asked for it to be noted that the cocaine purity was a trace, less than one per cent and the ketamine purity had not been measured but was also very low.

The advocate asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered that the report consider all options, including custody.

Bail continues.
