A Douglas teenager has been fined £100 for being found drunk in a public place.
Nathan Owen Briggs, of Castlemona Avenue, admitted the offence and was also ordered by magistrates to pay £125 prosecution costs.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court that Briggs called the Crisis Response Team on October 15 at 6.15pm.
They called the police as there were concerns for the 19-year-old’s welfare.
Police spoke to Briggs on the phone and he gave them numerous locations and was said to have sounded intoxicated.
He was found on Prospect Hill and made off from police but was detained on Wellington Street.
Briggs told police he had been drinking ’a ton of vodka’.
Defence advocate Ian Kermode said that his client was currently working with mental health services.
’It was an unfortunate series of phone calls between Mr Briggs, the mental health team and the police.
’He had been drinking at home and was making his way to Manannan Court.
’He wishes to apologise to the court for being drunk but is a bit frustrated as he was doing as he was asked to in attending Manannan Court.’
Magistrates ordered Briggs to pay the fine and costs at a rate of £30 per week.
