A Douglas teenager has been handed a suspended sentence after throwing a kebab at a taxi driver.
The driver said the kebab hit him with such force that he initially thought it was a bottle that had been thrown.
Jordan Daniel Bond, of Clarence Terrace, admitted common assault after he threw the food at the cabbie who was driving away from a Bucks Road takeaway at the time.
Bond was sentenced to 10 weeks’ custody, suspended for two years, by High Bailiff Jayne Hughes.
We previously reported how the driver had picked up a group of people outside the Flaming Great on December 2.
He had his window open and as he pulled off he was hit by the kebab. The driver said he saw Bond stood laughing at him.
The 19-year-old was later arrested at Kingswood Grove but in a police interview gave ’no comment’ responses.

Bond was picked out by the driver in an identity parade who said that he had to have the taxi cleaned after the incident.
The court heard that Bond has no previous convictions.
Defence advocate Paul Rodgers said: ’This is totally out of character for Mr Bond.
’He is a hard-working man who has always been gainfully employed.
’He appreciates the taxi driver was highly inconvenienced.
’This is his first offence and he is only 19 so I would submit that those two factors push this away from custody.’
Mrs Hughes said while passing sentence: ’Working as a taxi driver is a difficult job. This assault could have had far more serious consequences.
’This is the sort of behaviour that needs to be eliminated for the streets of the Isle of Man in the early hours.’
Bond was also ordered to pay £350 compensation to the taxi driver and £125 prosecution costs.
