An uninsured teen driver has been fined £900 after a car crash in Ballasalla.
Brandon Runge, of Poacher’s Pocket, Ballasalla, admitted careless driving and having no insurance.
The 19-year-old also had his licence endorsed with six penalty points.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court how, on August 31 at 7.20am, Runge was driving a black hatchback at the junction of Poacher’s Pocket and Bridge Road in Ballasalla.
At the junction he crashed into a Volkswagen Polo.
When interviewed the teenager told police the accident was his fault and that he should have waited at the junction.
The court heard that Runge had already paid £850 to the owner of the other vehicle so compensation was not being sought.
Defence advocate Paul Rodgers said that the compensation had been agreed with the other driver.
Mr Rodgers said that Runge’s normal vehicle was being fixed on the day of the accident.
A friend had let him borrow the hatchback but he had not made enquiries as to whether he was insured to drive it.
Magistrates also ordered Runge to pay £50 prosecution costs.
