A teenager who was given probation as a direct alternative to a prison sentence has been given a second chance after breaching it.
For the prosecution, Barry Swain told the Deputy High Bailiff the order was given to 17-year-old Jessica Freya Dallison, of Glen Darragh Road, Marown, last November but she had subsequently failed to comply with a requirement to be of good behaviour.
He said on March 7 the order was revoked but a new two year one was put in its place.
’She had in some ways made a good start to her new probation order and she was attending weekly meetings with her youth justice officer,’ he said.
Defending her, Kate Alexander told the court: ’She has not been able to sleep and because of the medication she was simply very tired. She has been attending appointments and things have been going well. She very much wants to engage and seeks one last chance,’ she said.
Sentencing her, Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes commended the patience of the probation service and said: ’She is on very thin ice. I am taking no action in respect of the breach but I doubt that such an approach will be taken in the future.’
