A ’R’ plate driver has been banned from driving after racking up more than 12 points on his licence.
Charles Andrew Sigley, aged 18, of Bradda Road, Port Erin, admitted careless driving and was fined £500.
Magistrates gave him six penalty points to add to the nine he already had, resulting in a six-month driving ban. And his ’R’ plate period was extended by two years. Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon said Sigley was driving on Ballafesson Road in Port Erin on July 17. As he pulled away from a give way junction he failed to see an oncoming car and crashed into it.
Advocate Peter Taylor said it was unlikely that Sigley’s employer would keep him on as he worked in construction: ’Ultimately this will cost him far more than the points on his licence and the fine.’
