A Douglas teenager has admitted assaulting a man outside takeaway.
Dean Rae, of Oak Avenue, punched his victim then swore at police, resisting arrest until he was Pava sprayed.
The 18-year-old pleaded guilty to common assault, resisting arrest and being drunk and disorderly.
He will be sentenced on September 24 after a probation report has been completed.
Prosecutor James Robinson told the court how police were at Victoria Street in Douglas on June 2 attending an unrelated incident.
Rae was said to have been involved in a disagreement with a man outside Herrons Country Fried Chicken.
The teenager punched the man several times to the head before being restrained, only to then punch him again.
Police arrested Rae and he began swearing at them, pulling away and tried to walk off.
He was then said to have tried to punch one officer but missed, something which Rae denied in court, before being Pava sprayed.
Rae entered a basis of plea in court, via his advocate Michael Mudge, in which he said he had limited recollection of the incident but he accepted punching the man.
Rae denied attempting to punch the police officer saying that he had pulled his arm to get away from his grip and had been shouting and pointing.
Recollection
Prosecutor Mr Robinson said that Rae had not been charged with an assault on police and that he did not think the difference in accounts would make a material difference to sentencing.
The court heard that Rae has no previous convictions but he is also currently on police bail in relation to an affray charge stemming from a different incident.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered that the probation report consider all sentencing options, including custody.
Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions that Rae reside at his home address, co-operate with probation and not leave the island without court permission.
