A Douglas teenager has admitted stealing CBD (vannabidiol) oil during a burglary of a community centre in Laxey.

Brooke Alayna Byron, of Alder Road, climbed through a window at Mother T’s, in New Laxey Road, with two other people and stole cash from a donations jar.

The 19-year-old admitted burglary theft and knowingly being a passenger in a vehicle taken without consent and will be sentenced on July 25 after a probation report has been completed.

Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon said Mother T’s was broken into overnight on May 13.

A Ford Fiesta was also stolen from Berrywoods Grove in Douglas on the same night. The keys to the car had been left in a car parked nearby.

Police were called to Mother T’s and it was found that CBD oil had been taken along with between £200 and £300 from a donations jar which was broken.

Blankets were also taken and a wooden elephant was also damaged.

Police were later called to a car accident at Onchan Community Centre.

Byron was found to be a passenger in the car.

She entered a basis of plea saying she had taken the drug Xanax before the offence.

She said that she and two others had entered Mother T’s through a window and initially intended just sitting inside to get warm.

She accepted she was part of joint burglary and therefore jointly responsible for the whole offence but said she had only taken £20 from the jar and used some of the CBD oil to put on a cigarette paper.

She said she was picked up by a friend in the Fiesta and fell asleep, only to be woken when it crashed.

Byron said the Xanex had caused her to be very tired and to think irrationaly.

Advocate Ian Kermode asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing.

Bail was granted with a curfew between midnight and 7am.
