A Ramsey teenager has admitted resisting arrest.

Mellisa Brew, of Cronk Elfin, thrashed around and screamed as police took her into custody.

She will be sentenced on March 31 after a probation report has been completed.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that police were called to Cronk Elfin on February 21 at 2.25am after a report of a disturbance.

Brew, who is 18, was inside the address and was said to be slurring her words and shouted: ’Get out of my house.’

Police were told she had been throwing furniture and clothing around and that she was no longer welcome at the address.

It was the second time police had been called to the address that evening and as Brew could not provide an alternative address she was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace.

However, Brew then refused to get up off the sofa and began thrashing out with her legs and screaming.

She was put in handcuffs but continued to thrash and scream as she was taken a police van.

Defence advocate Paul Glover asked for an addendum probation report to be compiled as his client had appeared in court similar matters in October when a suspended sentence was put in place.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered that the report consider all options, including custody.

Bail continues with a condition that Brew contact probation.
