A teenager has admitted punching a policeman and stealing a bottle of vodka.

Katie Alice O’Sullivan, of North Shore Road, Ramsey, will be sentenced on January 14 after a probation report has been completed.

She admitted offences of theft and assaulting a police officer.

Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain told the court how 17-year-old O’Sullivan was in custody on October 5 at 4.15am in relation to another matter.

While there she was said to have pushed an officer in the chest then punched him in the face.

The second offence occurred when O’Sullivan also stole a 200ml bottle of vodka from the Co-op in Ramsey on November 4.

The court heard that she is currently subject to a suspended sentence imposed in July after she committed nine offences in just over four months.

Defence advocate Matthew Wilshaw asked for a probation report to be completed before sentencing.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered that the report consider all options, including custody.

Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions that O’Sullivan reside at her home address, contact probation, and not leave the island without court permission.
