A teenager from Douglas has been fined for disorderly behaviour on licensed premises while he was out celebrating the end of a pub ban.
Liam David Skillicorn, of Lheannag Park, admitted the offence and was fined £250 and also handed a three month licensing ban.
Prosecutor James Robinson told the court how, on June 30 at 11.45pm, 18-year-old Skillicorn tried to enter Jaks bar on Loch Promenade.
He was refused entry and was said to have become argumentative.
Police arrived and Skillicorn demanded to know why he was being refused entry.
He was swearing and was told the leave the area but continued to be aggressive, blocking the entrance to the pub.
Skillicorn was finally ushered away by a friend into Granville Street but then returned to the pub to try again.
He demanded to know the names of the police officers and shouted abuse.
He was subsequently arrested and later admitted he had been swearing.
Defence advocate Paul Glover said: ’Ironically Mr Skillicorn had been out celebrating a licensing ban being up but the situation turned sour very quickly.
’No violence was used, there were strong words. He wasn’t ejected, he was refused entry. He accepts it is a situation he shouldn’t have become involved with.’
Skillicorn was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
