A Ramsey teenager has been fined £750 after admitting affray at St Christopher’s after care centre.
Lewis Jack Moulder Kelly, of Armadale House, and another man were described by staff as ’knocking hell out of one another’ as they fought.
We previously reported how staff at the facility in Hope Street in Douglas called 999 at 2.41pm on April 10.
A witness said Kelly, who is 19, made a remark about the other man, who had a child with him, ’dobbing him in’ and the pair started fighting.
The witness said the two men were screaming and shouting as they grappled with each other.
A probation report said Kelly had been diagnosed with ADHD and was signed off work.
The case was previously adjourned while another allegation was investigated but prosecutor James Robinson said that no further charges were being laid.
Defence advocate Kate Alexander said: ’It is Mr Kelly’s position that, whilst he was involved in the incident, the other party started it.
’Once things got going it was six of one and half a dozen of the other. He accepts he should have walked away.’
Ms Alexander went on to say that Kelly was receiving after care from St Christopher’s until he was 21 and that community service was not an option as it would result in him losing his disability living allowance.
’He has support in the community and we very much hope he won’t be back before the court in the future,’ said the advocate.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered Kelly to pay £125 prosecution costs.
