A teenager has been put on probation after punching and kicking a man outside a pub in Ramsey.
Brogan Misselbrook was arrested after the incident outside the Royal George and pleaded guilty to provoking behaviour.
Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks sentenced the 18-year-old to 18 months’ probation and ordered him to pay £125 prosecution costs.
Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that police were called to a fight outside the Royal George Hotel on July 9 at 8.30pm.
When they arrived, a man said he had been hit several times but did not wish to make a complaint.
The designated official at the pub said that they had witnessed the attack from inside the pub.
Misselbrook was seen approaching the man and then throwing punches at him.
Punches and kicks were then exchanged before the pair were split up by members of the public and Misselbrook left the scene.
CCTV footage recorded the incident.
A probation report said that Misselbrook, who lives at Queen’s Drive West, Ramsey, has no previous convictions.
The teenager claimed that he had been attacked by seven people 30 minutes before the incident and was upset and angry so he went looking for one of the men.
He admitted punching and kicking him.
The report recommended a probation order as the most appropriate sentence, saying that it would allow time to work with Misselbrook.
Defence advocate David Clegg supported the recommendation.
Deputy High Bailiff Mr Brooks ordered Misselbrook to pay the prosecution costs at a rate of £10 per week.
